I went to the Dirty Projectors’ hometown show in Brooklyn Tuesday night (unofficially, their album release show), and all their new songs felt right at home in the scenic Prospect Park. The Art-Folk on Swing Lo Magellan was the perfect soundtrack for the beautiful weather in the most musically-conscious of the five boroughs. The gorgeous harmonies of the intricate, yet danceable, “About to Die” was just what the crowd needed to get going as the band launched into a set filled to the brim with new music.
"My ex liked to go down on me when I was in the kitchen cooking. As our relationship continued, he would continue to do it when I was in the kitchen but never anywhere else. Turns out, he was trying to psychologically condition me to really want to cook all the time. Fucker."
